Permanent Closure of Captain Walker’s Bicycles
It is with a heavy heart I’m announcing the permanent closure of Captain Walker’s Bicycles.
Breaking the lease from our Fremantle Manning Arcade store proved to be a significantly longer, more stressful and ultimately more expensive endeavour than we had expected, and unfortunately, has sent us under.
The new location in Pritchard St, O’Connor has been fantastic, and it’s been great to see the regulars follow us up here, and to have acquired a lot of new customers, and working alongside Adrien and Pia from Melody Wheels has been fantastic - good synergy, and good times.
We are selling all bicycle floor stock at cost price.
We have several Tokyo Bikes, and Brooklyn Bikes, and 3 Frog bikes left. Check our instagram stories for regular updates to stock levels.
Furthermore, we have a minimum 25% discount on all stock in-store, including some Ortlieb luggage, one Brooks B67 left, as well as Lazer helmets, Vittoria tyres, Rock n Roll and Muc Off lubricants, tools, grips, bottom brackets, the lot. It’s all gotta go!
Irregular Hours
I am going to Tasmania on 5th - 16th Jan and returning to my previous career as a teacher in Early Childhood Education on 22nd. As a result, from now, the shop hours will be irregular as I catch up with old restorations, and defit and make-good our rental space. Please call me on 0411 217 331 or message on Instagram before you visit, or to make an appointment to purchase a bicycle, as it gets closer to those dates. We will be completely out of our shop space end of January, 2024.
Special Thanks
It’s been an honour and a pleasure to be trusted with your bicycle servicing for the last 4 years. Thank you for supporting a local, independent bicycle shops.
A special thanks to all the mechanics who have worked for me over the years, My daughter, Captain Millie, who has grown up in the shop, Long Mac, Kabira, Hannah, Amy Rompton, Liam, Clean Harry, Ren, and last, but certainly not least, my pal and brother-from-another-mother, the prettiest bicycle mechanic this side of paris, Nicko.

We are a friendly, approachable, family run, bicycle repair workshop - we focus on quality, thorough servicing, paired with old-school service. When you walk in, you’ll be in greeted by a bicycle mechanic, not a salesperson. Expect a condescension free environment where anyone who enjoys the feeling of rolling on a bicycle is considered a “real cyclist” - whether you enjoy a roll around the river once a month, you commute daily, are touring the world, or race triathlon.
Positioned conveniently off South Street, O’Connor, under the same roof as Melody Wheels.
We specialise in servicing commuter bicycles, Brompton folding bicycles, vintage bicycle servicing, gravel bike setup, restoration, and customisations to your existing rig to make her as comfortable and efficient as possible. We stock TokyoBike, Brooklyn, Frog Bikes and Brompton bicycles, on the floor.
Got a flat tyre? We will always make time to repair your flat tube, if you’re in a jam, no matter how busy we are in the workshop.
LGBTIQA+ and neurodivergent friendly space.
